Business, green group, media plant mangrove
in Tayabas Bay
Mangrove tree planting along the coast of Tayabas Bay
SARIAYA, QUEZON – A Filipino-owned seed company, an environmentalist group
and Quezon journalists planted mangrove trees along the coast of Tayabas Bay to
help sustain the marine protection program of the government.
The tree planting activity held last month in the coastal village of Quiling
symbolized the start of the partnership between Allied Botanical Corp., a firm
engaged in the supplies of hi-breed vegetables and flower seeds and Tanggol
Kalikasan (Defense of Nature), a public interest legal defense center, for the
protection and rehabilitation of the environment.
The company donated P300,000 to TK for the latter different environmental
protection projects and programs.
The National Union of Journalists in the Philippines-Quezon chapter also joined
the mangrove tree-planting which was coordinated by the Sariaya municipal
agriculture office.
